Why Zambia

From one musicians desire to use his music and creativity
to generate sustainable projects; in 2010, a trip to Zambia
to look at projects run by The Butterfly Tree and experience Zambian culture inspired the project to build a music centre
in Mukuni Village.

Whilst holding some music workshops in rural villages with Valerie Buchanan; both Valerie and songwriter, Brendan Mission were humbled by the talent and enthusiasm of the children. Brendan donated his guitar to the school and started a small children’s music group and they vowed to return.

The core vision is to create a sustainable music centre where the children can earn money through their own music to help fund sustainable projects in their community.

Due to the high poverty levels there is very little for these young people to do outside the classroom. Providing these facilities will give the children an opportunity to develop music skills. In addition to being used as a teaching establishment, it will also be used to hold concerts and drama productions to assist the HIV/AIDS prevention and the fight against this devastating virus.
