The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and a bank holiday for Music Earth Rise

posted on: 15-05-2012 , 04:05:35

Due to the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the extended bank holiday (and the fact that The Betsey Trotwood is planning on closing) the next Music Earth Rise gig ( 5th June) is now cancelled. In addition to this, Luca is heading of to Italy to also get married (Congratulations!!) and the rest of us will be having a jolly good ole kness up at our chosen destinations. In the meantime, raise a glass to hope and prosperity. Let the music play on….

See you all in sunny July – let’s be optimistic :)

Music Earth Rise gig review: The Betsey Trotwood 01/05/12

Review by Adam Edinburgh

On the first of May Music Earth Rise returned to the Betsey Trotwood in London to raise even more money for the music centre in Zambia, and showcasing the talents of Nocturnal Hurdles, the man himself Brendan Mission, Dan Beaulaurier and Bowey White.

To start the evening we had Nocturnal Hurdles, an indie rock one-piece bringing his guitar, his wit, and a fantastically deep and emotive voice. The set began with a couple of covers very successfully delivered; and from the start I was confident we were in for a good show. With a voice somewhat reminiscent of Interpol’s Paul Banks and

It was the first Tuesday in April and the Betsey Trotwood was once again the venue for Music Earth Rise to showcase more great talent; Joe Floyd, Bella Mckendree, Ayanna Witter-Johnson and Black River Wild.

Joe Floyd was first to perform, a stellar show successfully setting the evening off with an impressive routine of original jazz-esque sounds and free-time improvisation reminiscent of Pink Floyd. I was very, and more than presently, surprised; a singer songwriter plus guitar taking the stage can sometimes risk

On Tuesday 6th March The Betsey Trotwood played host to four fine musical talents; Diego Brown and the Good Fairy, The Venus Bushfires, Jenny Hallam and Stacks, all to help raise money for the music centre in Zambia.

The evening began with Diego Brown and The Good Fairy taking to the stage to deliver their unique brand of slightly mad electroacoustic folk-and this they did with great success. With guitars, banjos, accordions, trumpets and bees it was impossible not to enjoy the performance. It didn’t take long for everyone else to get involved too, with cleverly amusing lyrics and a routine of holiday camp style dance moves. We were

The launch of Jenny Hallam’s debut album ’25,000 days’ was definitely an event to be remembered, and has surely marked Jenny as a rising talent to be watched. The gig took place on 26th February with great support from singer-songwriter Joshy Conner, and the indie four-piece Ronda.

Upon entering the venue Jenny’s popularity

‘Music Earth Rise’ auction goes live

posted on: 03-02-2012 , 03:02:26

The Music Earth Rise auction is raising funds to build a music centre in Mukuni Village, Zambia in association with The Butterfly Tree charity. We have now raised circa £9,000 towards the target of £10k. From the ’3 steps to Devon’ bike ride, the Betsey Trotwood gigs and the Bush Hall bonanza we are now on the home run. The auction includes items from The Prodigy, Ronnie Wood, and a very unique Silvertone guitar donated by Ivor Novello award winner Terry Britten. Terry has written and produced hits for Tina Turner amongst many other very successful artists. He used this guitar to record Tina Turners internationally acclaimed hit song ‘We Don’t Need Another Hero’ which Terry co-wrote and produced. The guitar was also signed by Eric Clapton in 1986 (Eric Clapton 86). Eric was a guest on one of the Tina tracks and Terry asked him to sign his Silvertone guitar in one of the Tina sessions. ( a real collectors piece in the offering! )
